I just found out that my flash fiction story, The Promise, was selected story of month for September at Every Day Fiction (www.everydayfiction.com).  The story is also well up on the top ten list for the year and the top ten list of all time at EDF.  (Incidentally, my story, To Catch a Wolf, won story of the month honors in May and resides on both top ten lists as well.  How lucky can you get?)  Story of the month authors get interviewed by EDF, and I just finished a set of engaging questions from Thom Rush, my interviewer this time around.  The interview will publish on the EDF Blog on Oct. 15.  It will focus on the craft of flash fiction, eg., how do I go about editing and revising my pieces, where did the idea for The Promise come from, and what’s my take on the interaction between plot and tension?

Thom is an excellent interviewer.  I hope you’ll take the time to read my answers.  Oh, and he asked me about my novels, so I got to mention the book deal I just signed with Poisoned Pen Press to publish the Cal Claxton Oregon mystery series.
