I was just notified that To Catch a Wolf, a flash fiction piece, won second place in the Kay Snow writing contest for fiction at Willamette Writers.  I’m thrilled because the Willamette Writers is one of the most prestigious writing organizations in the country.  I’ll get a free meal and a cash award at the upcoming banquet on Aug. 4.  All this for 1,000 words!  Maybe I should subtitle the piece The Little Story that Keeps Giving

The award is particularly timely since my current book, Matters of Doubt, has as a central character a young, homeless kid.  Maybe the tie-in will bring me some luck in selling the book!
